Who We Are

CaML brings together researchers, engineers, and advocates united by a shared mission: ensuring AI systems reflect compassion for all sentient beings.

Our Team

Miles Tidmarsh

Miles Tidmarsh

Co-founder

Miles co-founded CaML and has contributed to every CaML research output to date. He sets research and strategic direction, working on aligning AI values through personas, midtraining and self-fulfilling alignment, and leads fundraising and external partnerships. Miles also co-founded Modelling Cooperation and CAIRE. Masters in Economics from University of Melbourne; previously a research economist at Australia's Productivity Commission.

Jasmine Brazilek

Jasmine Brazilek

Co-founder, Technical Lead

Jasmine co-founded CaML and leads its technical work, contributing to every CaML research output to date. She is pushing the frontier of value alignment research using personas, midtraining and self-fulfilling alignment. Jasmine is ex-security at Anthropic, with 6+ years in cybersecurity.

Jonah Woodward

Jonah Woodward

Operations and Communications Manager

Jonah runs CaML's day-to-day operations and communications. A generalist working across animal advocacy, AI safety and artificial sentience, he previously organised conferences for Sentient Futures in New York, San Francisco and London. Background in philosophy and research communication.

Maheep Chaudhary

Maheep Chaudhary

Member of Technical Staff

Mechanistic interpretability researcher focused on AI safety and alignment. Has published multiple papers on interpretability and the causal analysis of neural networks, including work in the Journal of Machine Learning Research on causal foundations for mechanistic interpretability, with research to be presented at COLM and ICML. He investigates white-box methods for understanding what models represent internally.

Hailey Sherman

Hailey Sherman

Member of Technical Staff

Software engineer, data analyst, and advocate for all sentient beings. Built the AI Compassion Leaderboard. B.S. in CS and Psychology from University of Utah. Completed Futurekind AI Fellowship. 2 years research assistant experience in data analysis, visualization, and LLM automation.

Volunteers

Jeremiah Miller

Software engineer who believes in evidence, reason, and compassion for all sentient beings (Sentientism). Joined CaML to push AI toward alignment with interests of all sentient beings.

Veylan Solmira

Molecular biology + CS at UCLA, 9 years in software engineering. Interested in ensuring AI goes well for all beings. Astra fellow with Apollo Research. Working on mechanistic interpretability-based measure of compassion in AI systems. Philosopher, vegan, lay Buddhist.

Juliana Seawell

Enterprise software architect with 9+ years automating processes. Background in molecular biology. Long-term goal: transforming food systems to be more humane. At CaML, training language models to investigate how fine-tuning impacts compassionate values introduced during pretraining.

Advisory Board

Our advisory board members meet monthly to guide strategic decisions. Honorary members provide expertise on an as-needed basis.
